Veterans Story Night
Every veteran has a story worth telling—and worth hearing.
On the 3rd Tuesday of each month, American Legion Post 24 hosts Veterans Story Night, an evening of fellowship, food, and storytelling that honors the service of our McPherson veterans. All Legion Family members and guests are welcome.
What to Expect
→ Free Dinner at 5:30 PM
Enjoy a meal provided by our monthly sponsors. Veterans and sponsors receive 2 free drinks.
→ Stories Begin at 6:30 PM
Each month, our moderator interviews two veterans back-to-back. Veterans share about:
- Why they chose to serve
- Why they chose their service branch
- Memories from basic training
- Their main role in service
- Special experiences they wish to highlight
- Life after service
Stories can be shared conversationally, with photos or mementos, or even as a short PowerPoint presentation. The Legion has microphones and a large screen display.
At the end of each interview, the moderator invites audience questions before the evening moves into informal social time.

Veterans Story Night is more than an event—it’s a way to:
→ Honor service and preserve the personal histories of our members
→ Build camaraderie by learning about each other’s experiences
→ Create space for those who want to share both lighthearted and difficult memories
→ Strengthen connections within our Legion Family
